Architectural Design 2
This module has made me rethink the 'norm' of my own design thinking and pushed my own bounds in terms of site-based design execution. It has taught me the value and usefulness of diagrams, regardless of how simple or complex they are in explaining my design.
Diagramming Architecture Principles
The first project encouraged us to 'learn from precedents' by studying their design objectives and principles, which included not only site and contextual approaches, but also the exploration of solids, planes, lines, and frames in architectural design. The aspects of architecture and architectonics that develop architectural shape and space through drawing and making were highlighted. Our objective was to examine how architectural and constructional elements are used to form spaces: architectonics.
Arch. Principles and Materiality
The second assignment required us to investigate our conceptual and operational processes in order to create a meaningful gesture of architectural spaces. From the first assignment, we had to choose architectural principles. We will need to define the architectural principles that we have chosen. Our objective was to investigate the possible meanings and ramifications of these architectural principles in order to guide two areas: producing forms and crafting environments.
Arch. Principles, Context, Materiality and User
This last project challenged us to investigate and combine the prior assignment's design concept and construction approach into a more sophisticated programme. We were asked to develop a proposal for a modest freestanding construction in respect to the surrounding natural setting. In architectural design, emphasis was placed on the interpretation and synthesis of the user, site, and purpose. This structure's design must illustrate our use of architectural objectives and principles, materiality, constructability, and context to create a memorable spatial experience for the user.
