Architecture History and Theory
This module has been a roller coaster for me. Don't get me wrong: I appreciate history. Learning more about the origins and advancements of various eras is nothing short of inspiring. Dr. Filzani Illia has been extremely helpful to all of us, especially those of us who despise history. She's been extremely patient and kind. One of the tutors particularly irritated me. Taylor's recruitment could use some improvement. Nonetheless, all assignments were enjoyable and eye-opening.
Sketching Analysis
This project required us to conduct a research analysis process on selected architectural historical building sites using sketching practices, a literature review, and documentation, and then present appropriate sketching, chronology, and diagram analysis based on the knowledge gained during the analysis procedure. It was a lot of fun to go to each location and explore both the exterior and interior.
Comparative Analysis Report
In groups of ten, we were required to conduct a comparative analysis of two case studies of local heritage buildings. This introduced us to the activities of research analysis culmination and production through assemblage, chronological arrangements, diagramming exercises, indices, and information evaluation; composition and organisation of study; assembly of illustration and text; design layout composition; posters, and, most importantly, general presentation.
Tutorial Exercises
Every week, we had tutorial exercises following each lecture. It kept us on our toes and ensured that we paid attention during each lesson. The exercises mostly involved sketching and labelling ancient structures. In addition, in order to complete the activities, we had to conduct additional research on each era. This was a fun way to encourage students to do their own research.
